Marije Rijsenbrij

Marije is a lawyer at Brinkhof who advises and litigates in relation to information law, with a focus on privacy and data protection law and telecommunications law. Marije represents clients in GDPR enforcement proceedings and litigation.
Experience & ancillary activities
Marije holds a BSc in Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics (PPLE) as well as a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Amsterdam. After obtaining these degrees, she went to study in Berlin. Marije graduated in 2022 with a Master’s in Information Law from the University of Amsterdam and an LLM in European Law and Comparative Law from Humboldt University (Berlin). During her studies, Marije gained experience working at a consultancy firm specialising in privacy and data protection.
Some of the cases Marije Rijsenbrij has handled:
- advising on complex issues of data protection law in relation to matters such as cookies, special personal data, data subjects’ rights, and the national and international transfer of personal data;
- advising on privacy aspects of recent European regulations on platform regulation, including the Digital Services Act and CSAM detection proposals;
- advising on the application of European and Dutch telecoms legislation;
- advising and litigating in relation to applications under the Dutch Open Government Act (Woo).
