Maarten Groeneveld
Lawyer
Maarten is a lawyer at Brinkhof who focuses on national and European patent law. He handles telecoms, computer technology and mechanics cases, among others. Maarten is also actively involved in advising clients regarding the arrival of the UPC (Unified Patent Court).
Experience & ancillary activities
Maarten’s passion for IP law was what led him to become a lawyer. He went on to graduate from VU University Amsterdam with a Master’s in Internet, Intellectual Property and ICT. He wrote his Master’s thesis on obtaining a supplementary protection certificate for a second-medical-indication patent. Maarten was admitted to the Dutch bar at the Amsterdam District Court in 2022.
While studying for his Master’s, Maarten gained practical experience as a research assistant and as a legal advisor at Clinic Law Incubator. In the latter role, he provided advice to start-ups, including a cloud-based service designed to detect and combat money laundering for financial institutions, on IP and matters of privacy law.
