As a specialist in information law, Bart advises and litigates in various areas, including the responsibility of online platforms. This often relates to user-uploaded content that infringes upon the rights of others, such as an IP or a personality rights.
Experience & ancillary activities
During his secondment at Metrological, a Comcast subsidiary, from April to August 2020, Bart provided legal advice and support in negotiations with global app and television providers regarding their utilisation of Metrological’s application platform. From July 2021 to October 2022, Bart was then seconded to Google as a Legal Counsel.
All these experiences have not only equipped Bart with the necessary skills to work as a lawyer, but also enabled him to effectively view cases from his clients’ perspective and empathise with their situation.
Bart studied Law & ICT in Groningen and was admitted to the Dutch bar in 2017.
Some of the cases Bart Tromp has handled:
- advising and litigating on applications submitted under the Dutch Open Government Act (Woo);
- representing clients in proceedings concerning conflicts between privacy and the freedom of expression;
- class actions against technology companies under the Dutch Settlement of Mass Damage in Collective Action Act (WAMCA);
- analyses and procedural documents on the jurisdiction of Dutch courts to issue judgments on actions by companies not based in the Netherlands.
